The answers to your questions may be right here.
Q: What is The Willows at Worcester?
A: The Willows at Worcester is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) where active, independent adults enjoy private residences, as well as a community of activity, companionship and support.
Here there's everything you need to lead a happy and healthy lifestyle – such as maintenance-free living, restaurant dining, social and recreational outlets, customized fitness programs and more.
If ever needed, you also have access to on-site short- or long-term care at The Health Center at The Willows, as well as a full continuum of care available through SALMON Health and Retirement’s other communities.
Q: What will my residence be like?
A: Our emphasis is on choice and comfort. We offer more than 70 different floor plans of one- and two-bedroom, independent living apartments, patio and cottage homes.
Some Willows homes feature options such as dens, sunrooms, porches, balconies or walk-out basements. You can also customize and upgrade, so your new home reflects your personal taste and style.
Inside, your home will have individual controls for heating and air-conditioning, wall-to-wall carpeting, washer and dryer, spacious closets and a well-designed kitchen with modern appliances.
Also included for your reassurance are safety features: emergency lighting, carbon monoxide sensors, smoke detectors and a 24-hour emergency response system.
And because your new home is maintenance-free, you won’t have to change another light bulb, clear a clogged sink, replace broken appliances, shovel the walkway, rake leaves or handle other such chores.
Q: What amenities, events and programs will I find at The Willows?
A: At The Willows, your calendar can be as full as you’d like. Often, CCRC Residents find that, after moving in, they are more active and engaged than ever before.
In fact, since national studies have shown the active lifestyle at these senior living communities leads to a longer, healthier life, more people are choosing The Willows at the early stages of retirement.
Here, you'll meet new friends and neighbors who share similar interests and hobbies to join for clubs and social activities, day trips, concerts, games, lectures and more. Of course, you'll still be seeing your old friends. And they'll be envious.
If you prefer more quiet or personal time, there's our library, arts studio, woodworking shop, pool or spa.
You can also practice your golf skills at the professional indoor, interactive golf simulator, or develop and maintain a workout routine – with the help of a personal fitness trainer – through our Personalized Exercise Program.
Q: What conveniences will The Willows offer?
A: The Willows offers transportation to shopping, banking, pharmacy, and the grocery store, as well as organized social events.
If you decide to maintain your own vehicle, you have the option of heated underground parking (based on availability) or a private garage if you choose a patio home or cottage.
For your convenience, you’ll get maintenance-free living, on-site banking, a beauty salon and barbershop, general store, resident storage area, postal center, spa, and fine and casual restaurant choices.
Q: Who will look out for my home if I’m away?
A: That’s one of the many benefits of The Willows: Simply lock your door and leave without worry for your home. We’ll take care of all home maintenance while you’re away.
Q: May I invite my grandchildren or other guests to stay overnight?
A: Of course! Your home at The Willows is meant to be enjoyed as your own. Invite friends or family members to stay overnight when you'd like.
Q: Is The Willows a good value?
A: Absolutely – now more than ever! When you compare your own current monthly expenses, many people find they’re close to what you would pay at The Willows CCRC. (We have a form you can fill out privately to see for yourself.)
It’s hard to put a price tag on peace of mind. The value of The Willows includes a network of community support, friendships and activities for a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. The Willows has other, more tangible aspects:
You’ll find financial benefits that help protect your assets and control your monthly expenses. Residents often appreciate having one, set monthly bill to pay, avoiding the frustrations of unpredictable expenses like erratic heating bills or costly home repairs.
Here’s how it works: At The Willows, you pay a one-time Refundable Entrance Deposit, which gives you full use of your residence and all services, amenities and community spaces. This deposit is 90% refundable to you (or to your estate), should you leave The Willows for any reason.
Q: Will I own my apartment or cottage?
A: The Willows owns all apartments and cottages within the community, although you retain use of it for as long as you live here. This “right of occupancy” is typical in most continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) nationwide.
The arrangement creates peace of mind, since you’ll never have to worry about selling your home at The Willows if you choose to move, or if your health needs ever change.
Q: Are there nearby places of worship?
A: Worcester and The Willows are rich in religious diversity. There are houses of worship of all faiths and denominations within an easy drive of The Willows at Worcester.
In addition, Roman Catholic Mass is celebrated Sundays in The Great Room and Jewish services are frequently held on-site in response to requests by Willows Residents.
Q: Am I ready for The Willows?
A: The Willows at Worcester is specifically designed for those 55 and better who are young at heart – and healthy enough to live independently. Those who wait too long won’t be able to take full advantage of all the benefits of living here.
At The Willows, you’ll have fewer responsibilities, making more time for you to pursue your vocation, hobbies, volunteering, traveling or spending quality time with family and friends. We’ll make it easier for you to keep learning, growing and enjoying life through our many services and on-site amenities.
Research has proven that living in a senior housing community such as The Willows can help you live a longer, healthier life. The Willows isn't a place to go when you’re “old” — it's the best situation to maintain your vitality and health, and to get even more from life.
Q: Why choose SALMON?
A: The Willows at Worcester and The Willows at Westborough (a CCRC established in 1987) are operated by SALMON Health and Retirement. For over 60 years, the Salmon family has served the area as a trusted provider of high-quality senior living and healthcare.
SALMON operates communities in Natick, Northbridge and Northborough, too.
Now in their third generation as owners and operators, Salmon family members remain committed to excellence, high quality care, and genuine support and concern for each and every person they serve.
Q: What is the continuum of care?
A: People who move to a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) are often interested in creating a plan for their future – one that can cover the unexpected.
The “continuum of care” means all levels of health services are available to you, should you ever need them – assisted living, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and memory support services. That's smart.
At The Willows, you pay for this healthcare only if and when you need it. You’ll have access to The Health Center at The Willows, located right on-site, and SALMON Health and Retirement's Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center – University Campus in Worcester.
You’ll also have priority access to SALMON’s Whitney Place Assisted Living Residences or Adult Day Health Centers, all other Beaumont locations in Natick, Northborough, Northbridge and Westborough, and SALMON VNA & Hospice services
