Beaumont at Westborough Hospice Care
Respectful end-of-life care for patients and their families.
Beaumont offers compassionate hospice care for our Residents who are terminally ill in a peaceful atmosphere aided by music, favorite refreshments, and special attention to what they find soothing. We encourage and accommodate extended visits by their families and friends.
The concept of hospice is rooted in the meaning behind “hospitality” — that is, the offering of shelter and rest to those on a journey, provided with a warm, generous and open-minded reception. The word “hospice” was first used more than forty years ago regarding the special care for people in the last stages of life. Another phrase associated with hospice is “palliative care,” which means an approach that eases the pain or force of an illness without curing it.
Hospice care neither prolongs life nor hastens death. The goal of hospice care is to provide relief from avoidable pain and distress associated with the end of life. Specially trained professionals, volunteers and family members combine their efforts to create personal care that best meets the varied and changing needs of the individual.
Our hospice care supports both the patient and family to provide a sense of autonomy, individuality, self-worth and security. An important focus of this service is emotional support for family and friends close to the person receiving hospice care.
