Designing for Aging Eyesight

While it’s true we can see parts of life so much more clearly now that we’re older, our eyes themselves very often need some help. Check out our tips for keeping things in good sight at your new home:

  • Use nightlights all around the room to show the pathway to kitchen and bathroom.
  • Always use lampshades (no bare bulbs!) to reduce glare.
  • Use bright or contrasting towel colors in the bathroom.
  • Consider using a toilet seat in a color, rather than white.
  • Use contrasting colors between sheets, blankets and bedspreads and add color or pillows with textures to contrast the headboard from the wall.
  • Avoid using glass top tables which reflect light and can be difficult to see.
