SALMON Hospice Care Earns Deficiency-Free Survey

Organization praised by Department of Public Health

Last week, SALMON Hospice Care received a deficiency-free rating from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH).

After an exhaustive examination of SALMON Hospice’s operation, state officials found no flaws to report in the 2018 annual required survey.

“SALMON Hospice Care is proud of this tremendous accomplishment,” said Michele McGovern, executive director of SALMON VNA and Hospice. “The rating is the result of an unannounced evaluation of the quality, safety and environment of the care we deliver.”

State officials scrutinized hospice care quality by observing care; interviewing staff and patients; and performing scrupulous examination of day-to-day operations and factors including patient records, policies, HR records, provision of care, quality initiatives and safety and emergency management for staff and patients.

“We are proud to be recognized as deficiency-free and in compliance with all standards of care outlined by the regulatory body of the DPH,” said McGovern.
